 1  Blogilates 

Instead of spending your entire weekend trolling through vlogs and beauty channels, tune into Cassey Ho’s insanely popular Blogilates channel instead. She offers lifestyle tips, cute workout ensemble inspiration, and most importantly, workouts that will surely tighten your tush.

 2  Jivamukti Yoga at Legazpi Active Park 

Yoga classes can be insanely expensive and trekking to a studio after classes can put a strain on your stress levels too. Weekends are lighter on road traffic and lighter on the pocket. Jivamukti yoga teacher Nancy Siy offers Free For All Yoga from 9:30am to 11am amidst trees, grass, and a super quiet city setting.

 3  Walking, Running, Cycling at the UP Academic Oval

Whether you’re from UP or not, the state university opens its wide, tree-lined streets to the public. Bring a friend for a leisurely walk around the circle (with a possible fish ball break), or train for a marathon with a high-intensity run. Got a bicycle? UP folk are kind and open to cyclists too.


 4  Barre3 Online Free Trial 

Most online classes offer a two-week trial where you can get unlimited classes for free. If you’re smart about your surfing, you can get months on end filled with free workouts to try. Barre3 is a fun workout that incorporates the toning of pilates, the flexibility-building of yoga, and the grace and movement of ballet.

 5  Swimming

Check out your building, school or neighborhood facilities—chances are, there’s a full-sized pool you can practice laps on at no cost at all (you could also ask your friends). Swimming makes for great cardio without harming your joints, it’ll get you fit fast and teach you to work well with your breath.

 6  Ayala Triangle Park

If the UP academic oval is too far north for you, head over to Ayala Triangle Park. This pretty safe places is chockfull of runners, walkers, and fitness enthusiasts making the rounds. On some days, you’ll spot a group of yoga teachers playing around with fun acro yoga on the grass too. They’ll teach you some partner moves for free!


 7  BGC

One of the city’s hubs for the upwardly mobile, BGC offers a bunch of places that cater to your chosen workout. Bring out your skateboard and you can ride along the many open roads and ramps. Take your bike out for a round about BGC’s blocks. Or circle through their parks on your feet—just make sure you bring a buddy with you to stay safe at all times.

 8  Dance

All you need is some music and you’re ready to go. Whether you’re hopping around your bedroom with your best friend, getting your B boy pal to teach you a few moves, or are dancing on your own, super fun dance sessions can get your heart pumping and are absolutely great for releasing pent-up energy.

 9  Hiking

If you’re keen on out of town adventures, making the most of nature is your best bet. Walking through a trail with your big brother or your boyfriend is one way of experiencing the outdoors without really having to shell anything out. Just bring a bottle of water, wear some comfy shoes, slather on the sunscreen and you’re good to go.


 10  J&J Official 7-minute Workout App

There are a ton of apps out there offering workouts, but many of them come at a small price. This iOS and Android-friendly app is completely free and portable. Offering combinations of different circuits, demos, and exercise to fit different fitness levels, this is a good intro to high intensity interval training (HIIT) that doesn’t require to hire a trainer.
