If there’s anything we know for sure, it’s that the internet and social media has made it relatively easier for most of us to pursue the things that we’re passionate about. On the other hand, it brings to the table certain challenges, too, especially for aspiring entrepreneurs. Since the barrier to enter an industry has become much lower—because anyone who has Internet can practically start an online business and make their own marks—how do you stand out? Take the fashion scene for instance, we’ve seen brands come and go.

Enter Unfinished, an up-and-coming streetwear brand that pretty much embodies what it is to be promising. Their Instagram bio reads, “The brand of creative and passionate people.” True enough, the statement is reflected in each and every item featured on their feed. For its founder, Gio Prado (@giocprado), a Fine Arts major from the University of Santo Tomas, Unfinished is all about the creative process. “It’s something that builds on the imagination and the liberty of the mind—continuously.”  Hence the brand name “Unfinished.”

Unlike most streetwear labels we know, Unfinished values the process of creation as much as aesthetic. Their collections feature impressive original illustrations and themes that pay homage to horror classics, pop culture trends, and just about anything and everything that our imagination can grasp. They also have figurines called ‘Bert’ that put together different art mediums—namely wood, digital printing and acrylic, a creative journal, and coasters.

After the Taal Volcano eruption in January 2020, the team at Unfinished paid a visit to the victims and donated shirts especially dedicated to them. "We went to Taal with a couple of other volunteer groups and we gave out shirts that we made especially for the Taal victims," Gio shares. "We also want people to know that giving back is more rewarding."

Everything Unfinished creates is a representation of the unfinished creative process of every passionate thinker. Look closely, you’ll see details. Look even closer, you’ll find a story.
