There are a ton of beautiful beaches in the world, but nothing can beat the beauty of the Philippine beaches. That's why whether you're a beach babe or not, a cute swimsuit in your closet is a huge must! If you're swimsuit shopping, there's no doubt that Sandy Cheeks is one of the top of mind brands thanks to their supercool and trendy suits! Now, their co-founders Alex Jimenez and Maika Cruz are spilling all the deets behind their brand's success.

How it started. "My partner and I were discussing how difficult it was to find swimsuits that flatter different body types and we realized that we were in constant search for bathing suits that won't pressure us to look good in it, but instead make us feel secure enough to enjoy our beach trip completely. From there, we decided to be that swimwear option we were looking for."

Why Sandy Cheeks? "Every time we launch a collection, we discover that there are a lot of women out there who feel the same way. It's a great feeling to be able to fill the gap between the itsy-bitsy bikinis and overly conservative and outdated maillots."

Young entrepreneur. "Being an entrepreneur is challenging as it is exciting. It can also be very rewarding. There is no manual or specific "How-To " that can guarantee success, but along the way you get to add pages to your manual and from there you learn and improve."

Aesthetic. "Fun, feminine, and relaxed."

Drawing inspiration. "We are drawn to anything vibrant and celebratory. We also find inspiration in our everyday lives, tiny victories, and our conversations with our customers."

Partners in crime. "We'd like to think that we are a match made in heaven because we complement each other too well. Work is so much easier and smooth flowing because of our team dynamics. We can fully depend on each other."

Little challenges. "Finding a reliable supplier was one of the most difficult challenges we had to overcome. Another challenge that we've come to embrace is that having your own business means working on your brand 24 hours, 7 days a week."

Staying original. "When you think of swimwear, images of sexy women with rock hard abs and va-va-voom curves come to mind and yet here we are binge eating on Cheetos and pizza. I think that our fun and carefree aesthetic makes our brand not only standout, but also relatable."

What's next? "Naturally, the next step would be to venture into RTW, but we want to be smart about our next move so we’re exploring all possible options. Sandy Cheeks is such a fun brand and literally anything under the sun are possible product lines."

Entrepreneurial philosophy. "There is no one path to success and sometimes life doesn’t go according to plan."

You just have to believe in yourself and let success be your constant motivation.

To young budding entrepreneurs. "Starting a business won’t be an easy task. Just the thought of it is already intimidating enough. So our best advice would be is to JUST DO IT! If you're passionate about something and you firmly believe in what you can do, close your eyes and jump. Take it day by day, stay positive and look at challenges as learning opportunities. Just work hard and work smart and always persevere."
