Style Files: Raleene Cabrera

This Cebuana chick talks about her boyish style, style icons, and favorite fashion designers.

Name: Raleene Cabrera
Age: 21
School: Philippine School of Interior Design
Hometown: Cebu/Manila

Effortless & boyish. Yes, I'm often too lazy to dress up but I know I have to look presentable. Comfort is always a priority since school and my work requires me to move around a lot.
Shopping places.
Malls, thrift shops, department stores and different shops abroad (online or when I travel).
Fave fashion designers.
I love looking at the works of Anne Demeulemeester, Hussein Chalayan, Sonia Rykiel, Vivienne Westwood, Rei Kawakubo, Mich Dulce, Junya Watanabe and Yohji Yamamoto. My list is growing each year since there's just so many creative, unconventional designers getting noticed.
Always with...
A big watch or bag
Inspired by everything.
I take inspiration from everything and everyone around me.
Style gurus.
Mostly musicians like Karen O, Marina Diamandis, Bjork... And Agyness Deyn, Rumi Neely, Kate Moss... Anyone who looks free-spirited and doesn't believe in following any rules in fashion.
Influenced by...
Music, traveling.... and the weather.
Rainbow and basic closet.
My closet palette is colorful, because I've gone through so many 'phases'. But I'm always seen in blacks, greys and neutrals.
Peeping undies.
G-strings that peep through my jeans. Never got why that was considered a trend for some people.
The basics.
Denim, a well-structured coat/blazer and basic black pumps.
Boots lover.
Fashion is cyclical so I don't think I even have to wish for a trend repeat nowadays! I'm just glad boots are always around since I don't think I can live without them.
Vintage hand-me-downs.
Sadly, I don't own any from my mom/grandmums! My mom was trendy (she was a musician, too) but my grandma gave away all of her clothes and shoes since she kept traveling when she was younger and forgot to store them properly. My grandparents weren't really into fashion as well... I do have a lot of vintage frames/glasses from my dad and grandpa. And a couple of old cameras!
