Bipolar. I don't have a distinct style actually but I think it's safe to say that I dress up according to my erratic behavior, always leaping from girly to badass and back to girly again. When I dress up I just focus on one particular piece of clothing or accessory that I think is interesting enough and from there I work my way to creating my outfit for the day which is probably why I am, style wise, bipolar.
Ukay queen. Lately I've been doing a lot of shopping in thrift stores. I like shopping in bazaars and department stores as well. And whenever I feel like maxing out, there's always Forever 21 and Zara.
Fashion designers. There's John Galliano, Christian Lacroix, Alexander Mcqueen, Oscar dela Renta and Vivienne Westwood to name a few. I also adore Alber Elbaz, the genius behind the Lanvin H&M collaboration.|
Put a ring on it. I love cocktail rings! Since I can't color my nails because it's against school policies, I resort to rings to accentuate my fingers. I just can't get enough of them. I don't even know why I've skimped on them before.
Media inspiration. I get inspired by all sorts of things! It could be a movie, a random person I see on the street, a pretty place, a book but mostly its art and music. I have always loved art. I do a little painting and sketching whenever I'm bored and sometimes, when I do, I hatch an idea for an outfit. I also have this weird side that wants to have a background song for everything I do so it has become customary for me to pattern my outfit with the first song that I hear when I turn my iPod on. Haha!
Style guru. Alexa Chung! Her style is impeccable. I also like Rachel Bilson and Taylor Momsen.
Fashion blog love. I am immensely influenced by the people on Lookbook, models, and fashion bloggers. Before, I had the lowest self-esteem because I'm skinny and I thought I was too tall and then I started watching fashion shows on TV and somehow I gradually started to appreciate myself. Lookbook and fashion blogs help me keep tabs on trends and teach me how to recreate and express myself through clothes. I try to go beyond the stereotypical look as much as possible but of course I set limitations. Being raised in a conservative society, I make sure I don't go overboard by dressing too skimpy.
Monochrome. For the longest time my closet has been all about black, white, gray, and blue. I've recently added nude and some pastel colours, though. :)
Never ever! Those leggings that are made to resemble denim pants. I just think the printed stitches are too silly.
The basics. A white button down, denim pants, and ballet flats.
Fashion comeback. Dungarees! I miss seeing them on people. Haha! Culottes would be interesting too. I'd be most intrigued to see how the fashion industry would reinvent it.
Vintage hand-me-downs. I've got belts, bags, blouses, jewelries, and shoes handed down to me by my mum. I don't know how old each of them are exactly but I think most of them are purchased in the late '80s or early '90s. It's amazing that all of them are still in almost perfect condition. My favorites are the little diamond earrings, a printed sheer blouse, and a colorful belt. :)
