Slow Swinging

One of the most kilig moments of your high school life will be this thing called a "slow dance" at your prom. You will giggle nervously as your date holds you at arm's length and proceeds to lead in ballroom gliding. Here are some songs we think would make for great slow dancing!

  1. "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional
Pretend you are Olivia Wilde and your date is crooning ala Chris Carrabba. Just imagine your date spinning you around just as these lines play: Watch you spin around in your highest heels, you are the best one of the best ones. We all look like we feel. Kilig!

  2. "1,2,3,4" by The Plain White Ts
There's only one thing to do/Three words for you/I love you
It's as simple as one, two, three, four. Just grab your guy's hand and tell him to dance with you. This is one of the most special nights of your life. Don't sit out this one!

  3. "Dice" by Finley Quaye
Remember Marissa's and Ryan's New Year's Kiss on The OC? This was the song playing at that very moment. Imagine everything in slow motion and enjoy gliding around the dancefloor with this softly playing.

  4. "Playground Love" by Air
It's romantic and sounds like it's from the `70s. You can just close your eyes and lose yourself into the dance with this song playing.

  5. "Falling in Love at a Coffee Shop" by Landon Pigg
This is perfect for the ones who aren't officially together yet, but have admitted to liking each other. Landon's voice is just so sweet and sincere that you can't help but fall in love while listening to him sing.

  6. "Fresh Feeling" by Eels
We love the violins that play in the background. Something about it just makes this song sound so grand. Then, when you listen to the lyrics, "You don't have a clue what it is like to be next to you," it's so simple and quite honest.

  7. "Thinking of You" by Katy Perry
We know, we know, the lyrics aren't really something you should be singing to the one you're dancing with (especially if he wasn't your top prom date pick!). But there's something about this song just makes us think it would be great to dance to, complete with tear rolling down your cheek for dramatic effect. :P

  8. "The Way I Am" by Ingrid Michaelson
Because if you were falling, then I would catch you. You need a light, I'd find a match. 'Cause I love the way you say good morning. And you take me the way I am. Do we even need to explain?

  9. "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service (or the cover by Iron and Wine if you want an even slower dance!)

  10. "A Beautiful Mess" by Jason Mraz
It starts out sad and slow, but it's the kind of song that would be perfect to end the night with. There's no one but you and your date, just circling the ballroom. The whole night could've been a disaster, but the most important thing is this moment and that you're sharing it with the person you chose to spend it with. It's nice today, oh, the wait was so worth it.
