The maxi dress has been present in fashion for some time now and it seems it hasn't faded out from the limelight. A lot of celebrities like Nicole Richie, Vanessa Hudgens, and Whitney Port have been seen sporting maxi dresses on and off the red carpet.

Not all kinds of maxi dresses fit well on all body types. You have to consider the color, cut, and print of the dress when choosing which one will compliment your size and complexion. For the petite frame, since maxi dresses make you look shorter and chunky, choose a style that is a little body-hugging or one that has an empire waist cut to define your waist. For plus-sized girls, it's better for you to wear a halter cut to move the attention away from your upper area. As for prints, petite and skinny girls can go for dresses with smaller prints, while the full-figured can opt for larger and bolder prints as these will complement their frame. Solid plain colored maxis look good on anyone; just make sure to accessorize according to your style and the occasion.

Speaking of accessorizing, try pairing your maxi dress with a tank top or a shirt and tie it in a knot for a '70s vibe. You can also wear it with a denim or leather jacket for an edgier look. Wear a thin belt around your waist to define your shape so you won't look too boxy. As for the shoes, the best would have to be strappy sandals. Although if you're going to wear it at night, you can use wedges or chunky heels to add more height.
