After a stellar performance as Beth Harmon in The Queen's Gambit, fans have started to pay attention to Anya Taylor-Joy's other roles. From a chess master to a scheming antagonist, people have been in awe of Anya's portrayals because of just how different they are from one another. Before becoming the actress that she is now, however, The Queen's Gambit star started out as a model.
With big bright eyes and a narrow jawline, Anya was scouted at age 17 by Sarah Doukas who was the founder of reknowned British modeling agency Storm Management and the very same person that discovered Kate Moss. Other talents of the modeling agency include fashion personality Alexa Chung, and supermodels Behati Prinsloo and Cindy Crawford, among others.
Coincidentally, a Pinay model is also signed with the said agency: Filipino-German Maureen Wroblewitz. Maureen is best known as the winner of Asia's Next Top Model Season 5. One of Maureen's prizes for winning the modeling competition was a contract with the London-based agency. You'll find her listed on their official website. Aside from Storm, Maureen is also signed with local talent management agency Prima Stella Management.

Anya, on the other hand, had quite a different way of getting signed by the agency. In an interview with i-D, Anya revealed that she was walking her dog outside the popular English department store Harrod's when she noticed that a car was trailing her. Out of fear, Anya started to run when someone from the vehicle said, "If you stop, you won’t regret it." It turns out, inside the car was Doukas who handed her a business card and advised her not to interact with strangers again. Anya was eventually able to sign with an acting agent through her modeling stint with Storm, and that's how her acting journey basically started. What a ride!
