One common misconception when it comes to fashion is that it has to be from an international brand for it to be of good quality. But more and more young entreps are proving that local fashion are 100% on-point, too. Plus, they don't break the bank either. Angela Martinez is one of the young entrepreneurs who shows the value of local craftsmanship and showcases Filipino talent through their trendy rucksacks. Read on to find out how Angela entered the fashion business with Wear & Bare's rucksacks.

How it started. "I started W&B while I was still in college. It started as a clothing store, but I eventually shifted the brand's focus and ended up selling rucksack bags on Instagram."

Why Wear & Bare? "I saw the demand in making fashionable and quality rucksacks. It quickly became popular among students and yuppies. Plus, I also like the style. So I thought why not sell rucksack bags instead?"

Young entrepreneur. "Being a young entrepreneur is definitely hard and challenging. It takes a lot of trial and error not just in starting up a business, but also in maintaining it, too."

Drawing inspiration. "I always draw inspo from my daily adventures, travels, and street style to keep my brand and designs fun and fresh."

Flying solo. "While I'm a solo owner of Wear & Bare, I do have a marketing assistant to help me with some of the promotions of the brand and to assist me in creating more exposure for W&B. After all, being a sole proprietor is a rigorous task—especially since all the business decisions will have to come from you alone."

Little challenges. "There's definitely a lot of challenges that I had to face in building up W&B, but looking for our bag makers was definitely the most challenging one. After all, we won't be able to produce our bags without them and we couldn't just settle for any bag maker, we needed to find people who are skilled and loyal, too."

Staying original. "In order to differentiate ourselves from the other brands, we try to keep a personal approach with our buyers. Our bags are mostly made to order, which easily gives a personal touch to our rucksacks. Plus, while we keep our price tags affordable, one thing's for sure, we never scrimp on quality."

What's next? "We plan to further expand our online presence and hopefully open up our own physical store, too!"

Entrepreneurial philosophy.

"She believed she could, so she did!"

To young budding entrepreneurs. Just go for it! You don't need to start big right away anyway. So go ahead, take that risk, and don't give up until something good happens.
