She Started a Clothing Business at 16 and Is Now Selling Accessories

One common fear that most college students have is not knowing what they want to do in life. While it's perfectly fine not to know what you want to do just yet, we understand that it's easier said than done. Alexandra Presentacion proves that it's totally all right to not know what your final game plan is and just figure things out along the way. After all, that's how she started Cari. Read on to find out how this young entrepreneur made the switch from selling clothes to crafting accessories and how she succeeded in the clicks and portal scene.

How it started. "I started my business venture by selling clothes online when I was sixteen. But then one day, I realized that I wanted to try something new—something different. So I chose to switch from selling clothes to selling accessories instead."

Why Cari? "During the time I made the switch, my goal was to do something different. While making my pieces, I realized that making jewelry really made me happy and people were loving it, too."

Young entrepreneur. "While there are challenges attached to being a young entrepreneur, so long as you're interested in what you're doing and you put your whole heart into your business, then all the challenges that come your way will be easier to conquer."

Drawing inspiration. "My mom was my mentor in creating Cari. I've seen her do business while I was growing up and that made me interested in starting my own business, too."

Working solo. "Working as a sole proprietor can be challenging in the sense that you have to make decisions all on your own—from accepting the orders, conceptualizing new designs to creating the actual pieces."

Little challenges. "As with all businesses, I also had my fair share of challenges with Cari. From the high volume of orders to fixing my schedule for the different bazaars that I join, you name it. Working on my own while figuring out how to grow my business even more all while trying to balance out my schedule can be difficult and challenging."

Staying original. "I want my designs to be modern and classy while still remaining simple and versatile, perfect for all occasions. When it comes to differentiating myself from my competitors, I always look back to my vision for Cari and the rest just follows."

What's next? "I plan to explore and be more creative when it comes to coming up with new designs to make the business grow even more."
