Come the evening gown portion of the Miss Universe 2021 pageant, audiences hold their breath. It's no secret that the gown holds a unique gravitas—it's what the candidate wears to the Q&A portion and the highly-awaited coronation moment, thus making it the capstone look that'll go down in history.
While Beatrice Luigi Gomez's Miss Universe journey may have ended at the Top 5 Q&A round, she still delivered a dazzling performance that made the nation proud. Our jaws dropped when she stepped out in a Francis Libiran evening gown, rendered in lustrous gold. We couldn't have imagined a better get-up for the Cebuana beauty queen!
Bea bagged the Miss Universe Philippines title in a royal blue gown à la Pia Wurtzbach, and sashayed through the preliminaries in a fiery red gown also by Francis Libiran. Ticking off the primary colors on the Philippine flag, Bea's finale gown was a luxurious gold, and featured the same one-shoulder cut that she's been sporting since day one.
The gown also had a beaded train cape that draped elegantly over her left shoulder. The intricate zigzag embellishments on the ethereal frock resembled indigenous textiles, giving it a distinctly Philippine look whilst retaining a glamorous modern feel. The waterfall of fabric was offset by the dramatic slit, which climbed up all the way up to Bea's hips.
The Francis Libiran team took to Instagram to share the details of the gown."In the old days, the Visayan tribes had tattoos called Pintados indented all over their bodies whenever they went to war as a symbol of valor," they wrote.
"These patterns were embroidered and meshed with Francis Libiran’s signature art deco details on this magnificent gown of Miss Universe Philippines 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez. Iridescent crystals were delicately hand-sewn to add extravagance to the piece."
The Pintados detail was definitely the perfect fit for Bea, whose bicep tattoo always stands out. Absolutely stunning!
Congratulations, Bea! We're so proud of you!
