One of the most timeless pieces we'll never get tired of wearing has got to be overalls. Believe it or not, overalls started out as protective clothing for farmers and railroad workers. Through the years, overalls evolved from being simple protective wear to a fashion piece with different variations such as pants, shorts, skirts, geometric cuts, leather, and many more. We've been wearing overalls since we were kids, and people of all ages still sport the piece day to day. It's probably the most functional, comfortable, yet stylish piece you can have in your wardrobe. Next time you feel like wearing your overalls, you might want to try one of these 10 chic ways to style your look.

1 Match your overalls with a pair of pumps.

Matching your overalls with a pair of pumps will give your look a more sophisticated touch, and pairing your overalls pants with pumps will give an illusion of your height. If you feel like wearing overalls to a formal event, go for the pumps, and opt for overalls in velvet or leather.

2 Match your overalls with a striped top.

Channel your inner child with striped sweaters and striped tops. If you're not into stripes, any printed top can go with plain overalls.

3 Go monochromatic.

You can never go wrong with black and white or a look in one solid color. And when in doubt, go back to basics. Instead of a plain t-shirt, try something different like a turtle neck or a halter top.

5 Match your overalls with a sweater.

It might be extra cold right now but overalls can be worn regardless of the weather. Get your knit sweaters out to pair with your overalls for when it gets extra chilly.

6 Match your overalls with a crop top.

Show off that body that you've been working hard for and pair your overalls with crop tops. Go for the ones with cuts to add an extra cool touch to your outfit.

7 Match your overalls with boots.

If you feel like channelling your inner country girl, then this is the look for you. Give that country girl look a little twist by mixing and matching different styles of boots, overalls, and tops. If you're long-legged, show them off by pairing your overalls with knee-high boots. If you want to cheat your way to a little more inches for your height, choose boots with heels.

8 The androgynous look.

If you're going for a very sleek and menswear-inspired look, this ensemble is for you. Choose overalls with a geometric cut. Go for the monochromatic overall look with neutral hues like white, black, and gray. Pair your overalls with button-down tops and use the  same color pairings (white on white, black on black) or go with a little color blocking.

This look is very versatile. It's a look you can sport whether you are in the mall, traveling, or simply running errands. Match your overalls with a good old tank top and sandals and go for a clean, pushed back hairstyle.

10 The beach babe look.

This is the perfect outfit for when you're off to the beach. You can achieve Nadine Lustre's look by pairing your overalls with a bikini and a floppy hat. Do stick with denim overalls and avoid materials like leather.
