From Our Readers: You Are Going to Lose and Miss People
You are going to miss people. You'll pick up your phone at three in the morning and dial their number impulsively just so you can hear their voice. You'll stare at your ceiling, reminiscing about old memories that make you feel alive at first, but will start to make your chest ache slowly. You're going to send them messages that seem to remain unred. It will heart when you realize they have other priorities now. You're going to write them letters you'll never send; they're for you not for them.
You are going to miss people. Once you reconnect with them, you'll realize that what your heart beats in a different rhythm now. The sadness suddenly hits you as you realize it can never be like the old days anymore. At the end of the day, you're going to crawl back in your bed, hugging your tear-stained pillow, wondering why you feel like the people you love are two worlds away.
You're going to miss people, and it's going to be okay.
As you make your way in this world, you will realize sooner or later that you have to make sacrifices in order for you to go to the point where you're meant to be. Sacrifices don't always mean material things. Sometimes, you need to sacrifice your time with people, too.
It will hurt at first, but you need to remember that the pain you are feeling right now is temporary.
You are ging to miss people. You're going to wake up at three in the morning, trying to remember what it is you've been thinking before that moment you opened your eyes. You'll delete old numbers to make space for new people. You'll stare at your ceiling, reminiscing about old times but you wouldn't feel empty anymore. Instead, you're going to smile or laugh at it. You're going to type up messages for them, but you'll delete them before you send them because now you realize that you deserve more. You're going to mail the letters you wrote. You're still going to reconnect with people, but the idea of them being on a different page than you gives you nothing but happiness because finally, you can do things on your own.
You are going to miss people as you grow up and you're never going to be 100% ready and it's never going to be the right time, but that's the point. Every moment is the write moment for you to fix yourself.
