From Our Readers: Who Moves on First After a Breakup?

What happens after a relationship ends?

Being in a relationship is such a great feeling. But ending a relationship sucks. Who really moves on first after a breakup? Is it the one who was loyal and faithful all throughout the relationship? Or the one who cheated?

For me, anyone can move on. Even the ones who were loyal and faithful all throughout the relationship or even the ones who cheated. It depends more on the person itself if they really wanted to move on or not. It is a matter of choice.

Moving on can be as easy as ABC if you really have no bad feelings towards your ex anymore.

Every moving on process will also be different based on the experiences or the past relationship. If you know that you've given enough into the relationship, like your efforts, love, and care, you'll most likely find the process easier. You will have no regrets after the relationship. You won't be thinking about your what-ifs and if-onlys.

A lot of people don't know how to move on because they find themselves enduring the pain rather than facing the reality. But how do we really move on from our past relationship?

  1. Assess and know what you deserve. It'll be easier for you to accept the breakup, because you won't waste your time trying to hold on to that person and the pain anymore.

  2. Never be bitter about your ex. It'll only make your heart feel heavier and would make you either afraid to love or waste your time hating on your ex, which isn't really healthy. Let your life go on.

  3. It is true that if you want to move on, you should do things that would make you busy or would take your attention away from it. Spend time doing your hobbies and focus all your energy into something else—instead of over-thinking.

  4. Hang out with your friends or meet new people for a fresh start.

  5. Allot some time for yourself to reflect and think about things, so you can grow not only as a better human being but as a better partner in the future.

  6. Don't rush things. Wait for your heart to be ready before you rush into a new relationship. Be someone worth waiting for.

  7. Always stay positive. There are so many guys on this planet. You'll definitely find someone who's meant for you, someone who will love you as much as you love him.

  8. Lastly, forgive and forget. It won't cost you a dime. Live your life peacefully and free your heart from grudges.
