From Our Readers: What You Should Know About Dating an Artist
When dating an artist, you should also know how to understand him—most especially, when it comes to his work.
There are times when you have to cancel your dinner date or move your weekend movie marathons because he has a deadline to meet. And there would also come a time when he has no time to call or text you, or pick you up from school because he has revisions to do overnight. You know that working under pressure is never easy. He has to start from scratch and his projects even get rejected sometimes.
Just imagine the days when he was still pursuing you. He would do anything and everything to impress you as much as he could just to prove that he was serious about you. When you finally said you'd like to be official with him, think about that indescribable feeling he felt that time. It was priceless for him. Priceless. The same way he feels every time his efforts pay off.
Don't ever think that you're not one of his top priorities anymore just because he has forgotten his promise to take you on a beach or even greet you on your 10th monthsary. At the end of the day, you are still his happiness and his top priority. He is just being responsible, because he is just thinking about your future. He just wants what's best for you.
Be his number one supporter.
He's familiar with rejection and as his girlfriend, you should know how to cheer him up every time his projects get rejected. You know he patiently finished those overnight with all of his heart, mind, body, and soul.
But despite of all the pressure, he will surely appreciate when you bring him food—like his favourite spicy noodles. He'd also definitely love it if you would give him a massage every time he has headaches due to his sleepless nights and unbearable amount of work. That would surely lessen his stress.
Having a loving and caring girlfriend like you gives him inspiration and determination to finish all of his work because he wants to make it up to you—most especially, for your cancelled dates, broken promises, and for the times you stayed awake late at night just to check on him.
So if you are dating an artist, you are lucky because you are dating a man who knows how to value the things he loves most—his work, his time, and you. Just always remember that he needs two things: your love and understanding.
