From Our Readers: To the Girls Who Feel Like They'll Never Fit In
You are always left by someone you care and trust.
You're always not in their choices.
You're always out of the conversation, but you were the subject of their conversations.
You're always the nerd, the one who always held her books.
They will always treat you as their DUFF, their Designated Ugly Fat Friend.
They always treat you like the friend they want around when they are in need.
They're using you for their own sake when they're really secretly laughing at you, happy when you fail,
I know you've been keeping this for a very long time. You want to get rid of all the pain of always feeling and being out of place, alone. Having no one to talk to about your secrets, because you're always afraid that they might use those to stab your back. I know you want to free yourself from this trap—the trap of people stabbing each other on the back, hurting each other when no one's looking.
For a while, I was the only one who knew my pain. But I'm done and I want to tell the world about it and encourage girls who feel the same way.
Here's your reminder that you are beautiful in your own way. You don't need people in your life who only take notice of you when they need something. You are free to leave them. If you think you will be alone, think that that's better. That's better than living in a world flooded by lies and mean words used against each other. It's not about you. It has always been about them.
