From Our Readers: Read This for When You Feel Like You Don't Love Yourself Anymore
I'm tired of those days when I ask myself, "Am I not beautiful?", "Am I not fit?", "Am I not lovable?", or "Am I not worthy?" I am tired of wondering when things start to get better.
When, suddenly, it hits me; the reason why I felt like this was because I'm missing a piece in me that only I, myself, can find—self-love, which I know I need most above anything else. Here are the things that made me love myself fiercely.
- Don't underestimate yourself.
If you feel like you'll never make it or you're doubting yourself, change that quickly. If you thought that things are impossible to achieve, then you really can't because you're allowing yourself not to. Always believe in your capabilities and what you can do. If you feel like you're losing hope, just keep believing on who you are.
- You just have to shake the haters off.
Of course there will be people who will try to drag you down. They will say bad things about you behind your back or even straight to your face, but keeping those words in your heart and head will do you no good. So just ignore the haters! Never stoop down to their level. As they say, always classy and never trashy. You know yourself better than them. They're only doing that to bring you down because they want you to stay below them.
- Be yourself. Be you.
Because you do you. You must have seen this everywhere and it may sound cliche, but it really is the truth. Aren't you tired of being someone else or acting like someone you're not? It's not bad to be honest to who you are. We were all created differently, so don't hesitate to show your true colors to the world. Let yourself be free from being too dependent on what other people think of you. Get yourself out of their box and explore.
It is easier said than done, because loving yourself isn't the easiest thing to do in the world especially if you have a lot of insecurities. I've been through that too and trust me, it was rocky at the beginning. But if you start now, you'll eventually come to that point where you'll love yourself fiercely.
