I Feel Like I Made the Wrong Choice for College

Until now, I'm still confused whether this is the path for me.

There are times in our lives when we feel so lost. There are moments when it feels like our future has no direction at all. It would make us feel frustrated and disappointed. The hardest part is knowing that there is no one to blame. Then we start blaming ourselves instead.

One of the most challenging parts of being a teenager is college. This is the time of our lives when we have to make confusing decision. Picking the right course for college is one.

There are people who feel determined which track they should follow. It's as if they are fully geared for their future. There are also people who remain unsure of which field they'd want to get into. And there are also some who felt so certain at first but ended up questioning everything upon stepping into it.

Indecisiveness happens to every person. It's just a matter of how everyone handles it. Some might just give it a try and see how it works. Some might just stay undecided. The feeling of frustration and disappointment would always haunt you that it becomes kind of depressing sometimes. But we have to keep going because that is what we think is right. However, some would resort to giving up, which is always the easy way to escape the hurtful reality.

But trust me, you are not alone. There are a lot like you, like us, who feel confused about the decisions and actions we should do, especially about the college course they are taking. In the beginning, you would just feel so enthusiastic about things and it would make you feel as if you made the right choice. But when crucial and difficult times come, it would make you feel as if you are doomed and that your future is gone.

I've been into writing since I was 13. This is why I joined clubs and contests that are related to writing in high school. When I was about to graduate, I was so sure that I'm going to take Communication Arts despite the fact that I am a timid and an introverted person. It is the closest course to my passion so I was really excited.

When I got into college, I met a lot of people with different personalities. I'm in UP and there, I encountered tons of things that I am not used to. I met people who are so confident about what they do that it made me feel so little of myself. I saw myself as nothing compared to them. I thought that I couldn't fit in. It's as if everything that I planned for my life was gone in a blink of an eye because I do not belong there. This was when I started thinking of just crossing the bridge when I get there.

It came to the point when I just decided to just go with the flow. Take it easy and not stress myself out. I accepted the fact that there are just things in life that are out of our control. If something goes wrong, I shouldn't blame anybody else. It will always be on me because there is no turning back now. I just have to finish it.

Right now, I'm an incoming senior and I am still not 100% sure if I am on the right track. That's what scares me. I don't know where I am headed yet. There are still times when I get so frustrated because I feel like what I do is not enough. There are also times when I feel so proud of something I have accomplished. But then, when I see others who are a lot better than I am, it would all fade. I would ask myself, "Am I taking all of these too easy?"

However, one thing is crystal clear to me: I still have time to discover, learn, and appreciate what life has been throwing at me. Like what I said, it is just a matter of how we handle things. I'm just 19 and I still have a long way to go to explore what I really love to do. Same goes with everyone else.

Do not think that it is the end. Stop thinking as if your life is a mess. Everything that happened, happens because your life is up to you. So try closing your eyes and imagine all the efforts that you've done to get yourself to wherever you are right now. After all the things you've been through to go that far, are you really going to let a single negative thought put them all to waste? I hope not. There are many things in life that we should appreciate, so take time and appreciate what you have successfully accomplished so far. You are doing a great job and remember to believe in yourself no matter what.
