From Our Readers: 6 Struggles KPop Fans Go Through
1. No English subtitles.
Watching your idol's variety show guesting and there are no English subs? Complicated. The feeling of laughing at raw videos without understanding a thing. "Subbers, palli!"
2. Bias wreckers.
We all have specific bias/es on every group we stan. It can be the leader, the swaggy main dancer, the powerful lead vocalist, the rapper, or the hottie maknae. But every time they release a new song, there is always this one member you don't really stan who will suddenly ruin your bias list.
3. You don't live in Korea.
This is the major struggle of KPop fans. You've been seeing a lot of fan accounts about your bias on the internet. There are Korean fans who see them on the street, or Japanese fans who see them every month. You? You spend your days and nights staring at the screen, livestreaming shows, and thinking about crossing that ocean between you and bias. Long distance relationship is never easy.
4. Saving up for tickets.
Every time your bias announces a world tour, your feelings are in chaos! You pray that they include your city, and when granted, BAM! #IPONING You can't afford being a #TeamBahay that is why you'll do everything just to buy a ticket even if it's for the general admission. You can't miss this chance of a lifetime!
5. "Oppa is so hot and cute at the same time! Sjfakjfsakjfkjsa!"
There's so much ~*feels*~ in your heart when you finally see your bias. That's is why he's your phone's lockscreen, your desktop wallpaper, profile picture on twitter—everything! You can't last a day without seeing his face.
6. Going back to reality.
Being a KPOP fan is about living a life full of fantasies. You put so much dedication in supporting your idol who doesn't even know you exist. It hurts but all of us should accept the truth that at the end of the day, we are just that person in the crowd.
As a fan, I think all my dedication and support for my idols is worth it. I don't regret every single thing I did for them. They became my inspiration in all my dreams. But let us not forget ourselves and continue achieving our goals like how our idols did before they became idols. KPOP can be an inspiration but never a distraction.
