Candy Feels

Candy Reader Poetry: That Wasn't Me

If your eyes only wandered across the street, you might have seen me.
PHOTO Bac Films ART Clare Magno

Every single day, I wait for that message from you
I wait for you to take my hand
Every day I hope
But every day, I also break

Then one afternoon, while in the busy street
Sadly meditating on a park bench
Amidst all the noise
I heard the glorious beep from my phone

I received one message
Then I saw you rushing across the street
Your lips formed a huge smile
You walked slowly, then faster

Your hands can't stop moving
As you started walking away,
Now with a girl
That was not me.
