Candy Reader Poetry: How You Lost Me
When I lifted the corner of my lips
but you gave back a straight face,
you lost my smile.
When I looked at you
but you averted your gaze,
you lost my eyes.
When I called your name
but you didn't turn,
you lost my ears.
When I sang the song you taught me
and you didn't sing along,
you lost my voice.
When I tried to make a conversation
but you didn't respond,
you lost my words.
When I hugged you
and you became rigid,
you lost my arms.
When I opened my palm
and you didn't take it,
you lost my hands.
When you saw me across from you
but you didn't take a step forward,
you lost my legs.
You lost me when you walked ahead and didn't look back.
You lost me since you chose not to turn around.
