Candy Reader Poetry: All We Left Was Destruction
You are the thunder before the approaching storm
Although these are the roars of the angered heavens
Roars to scare and hurt; to feel the surge and rage
I felt my fears being cracked by the overpowering sound
I knew it was the sign I've been waiting, a calling.
The familiarity of my beating heart beating for you
Knew then it was the sound of love to me;
A lullaby to calm and put me to sweet sleep.
It was a warning I knew nothing about
And yet I let you in
Let our raging hearts try to win
Let our lips conceal our eccentricity
Though we were beautiful together
Drastic, peculiar, powerful.
I, the storm and you, the thunder
All we left was destruction
