Happy #WorldWaterDay2021! I want to share photos from a project study that my colleagues and I did last 2018. We developed a low-cost activated carbon made from dead guava branches. We chose this as a research study in hopes to provide a substitution filter to rural areas that we had visited like the mountain provinces in C.A.R. where water is scarce and have underdeveloped water sources. We successfully passed the PNSDW 2017 microbiological parameters for this project and taught the communities how to create their own GAC. Water for me is a basic need for humans, just like breathing. We couldn't live without it and while this is what most people think, there are still families out there that have no access to potable water at all. Right now, I'm currently working for a non-profit, Waves For Water, which aims to make an impact on communities that has little to no access to water. For World Water Day 2021, I would like to invite you guys also to join Race for Water, a virtual run, bike, or any activities you want to do event, and make those kilometers count as we convert your km to liters of water that would bring water closer to an Aeta village in Porac, Pampanga. You just need to do what you love and help along the way. :) #race4water #wavesforwaterphilippines Photo (from left to right): Engr. Keneth de Leon, Engr. Jennilyn Paulino, Engr. Augusto Luis Labos
