"With this song, I'd like to share some quotes which I feel points..."
One of the closest songs to my heart. Love Yourz by J.Cole is a song that encourages a person to really appreciate their life and not let external forces dictate an individual's feelings. These external forces could be the material luxuries that we long for, the image of the life that we dream of to be our own, people whose vibe is discordant to our own and the circumstances in which we may feel stuck in.
In our current circumstance, the pandemic has really put a hold on everyone's life and has significantly altered our way of life. With this song, I'd like to share some quotes which I feel points out important messages that really relate to our current situation. "Life can't be no fairy tale, no once upon a time" It's not always gonna be rainbows and butterflies. Sh*t happens. Right now, we are in the middle of a pandemic but it doesn't mean that you can't find a way to reinvent yourself and make the most out of the free time that you have. "For what's money without happiness? Or hard times without the people you love." With all the establishments around us being forced to close shop for the duration of the quarantine, our money doesn't have that much use anymore aside from purchasing the basic necessities.
For me, this quarantine enables us to depend on ourselves to find and make our own happiness with what we have in our homes; and not depending on some new purchase to make us happy. In these hard times, we have no one else to lean on but our family. Use this time to really bond with them. Learn new things about them, share even your simplest stories with them. Realize that you're usually saying that you're too busy or you're too exhausted from school/work to spend time with them. "Though I'm not sure what's 'bout to happen next, I asked for strength from the Lord up above." It is normal to feel some anxiety about the future of our society. Especially after watching the news day-in and out day-out, we're easily bombarded with negative news which can be a source of worry, nervousness and fear. This highlights the importance of keeping your faith and seeking fortitude through prayer. "You ain't never gon' be happy till you love yours. No such thing as a life that's better than yours."
I think more than anything, our isolation in our homes is a chance for us to focus on the now. To develop a deeper appreciation of what's in front of us. We're so used to feeding our attention to a distant world which I call our phone screens. We constantly find pleasure and amusement by seeing the lives, opinions and sensations of others through social media. I say use this time to focus on yourself, maybe hone your skills such cooking or playing an instrument, set new fitness goals, meditate and read a book. These simple joys can give us a large amount of happiness as long as we have the right mindset for it. Just always remember, there's no such thing as a life that's better than yours.
