What's Up With Makeup Shaming?

Because there is absolutely nothing wrong about loving makeup.

Beauty vlogger sensation, NikkieTutorials, recently uploaded a video called The Power of Makeup where she tackles the issue on makeup shaming. In the video, Nikkie says that sometimes "it almost feels like a crime to love doing your makeup" due to the unnecessary criticism wearing makeup can result in. In today's society, many non-beauty connoisseurs claim that girls wear makeup to just to "look good for boys, are insecure, or they simply don't love themselves" which isn't the case at all.

At the end of the day, makeup is washed off, and shouldn't really be taken too seriously. It is a creative outlet and a tool to enhance one's confidence, rather than something to mask our insecurities, or used to impress others particularly boys. In other words, we wear makeup because it is fun! Like Nikkie says, "There are no rules to makeup. Wear what makes you comfortable! Whether you want to rock full on dramatic smoky eyes to the grocery, sport a red lip to the mall, or anything in between just do it."
