Trend To Try: Dark Lips
We noticed a lot of celebrities sporting a dark lip at Costume Institute's Met Gala including freshly retouched platinum blonde and co-chair of the event this year, Taylor Swift. If you're not sure how to wear a lippie darker than your usual, we'll show you how!
Keep it simple. If you're going for a strong lip, keep the rest of your face almost bare so that your look isn't overpowering. A super thin line on your upper lid, a coat of mascara, and a flawless base is enough. And don't forget to prep your lips before applying color. You don't want your chapped lips to be highlighted by the deep hue you'll be putting on.
Complementary. If you can't leave your face bare, go for colors that complement each other. In this case, warm, earthy tones with just the subtle hint of red for eye shadow. Make sure to line your lips, too, to keep the color from bleeding.
Would you try dark lips? What would you pair them with?
