We've heard it said a thousand times over that if you want great skin, what you put in your body is just as important as your regular skin care routine. In fact, what you eat and drink on a regular basis can contribute to your skin's condition more than your serums and moisturizers.

Drinking at least eight glasses of water is more often than not the number one skin care tip girls with flawless skin swear by. And rightfully so! After all, doesn't water hydrate our skin, moisturizing it from the inside? Well, two skin care experts don't seem to think so!

In an interview with Byrdie, skin care experts Marie Veronique and Kristina Holey debunked the biggest skin care myth of all time! "Actually, that's a very common myth. Drinking a lot of water doesn't directly hydrate your skin," Kristina said. Say what?!

Although drinking too much water will not guarantee great skin in a snap, drinking way less than what's recommended for your body does have a direct negative impact to your skin and your health, too. At the end of the day, just like in all things—from skin care to life in general—always remember that balance is key.
