Just in: Beatrice Luigi Gomez, the Philippines’ contender for this year’s Miss Universe, concluded her journey as part of the Top 5 in the prestigious pageant, where she joined fellow powerhouse candidates from India, South Africa, Paraguay, and Colombia.
A crowd favorite since the beginning, the Cebuana beauty soaked up the spotlight in a sultry Francis Libiran number, which marries indigenous and modern elements into one scene-stealing frock.
In the much-awaited Q&A portion where the candidates’ wits were tested, Bea was asked about her opinion on mandating vaccine passports, into which the Filipina answered with a graceful response: “I believe that public health is everyone’s responsibility and to mandate vaccine inoculation is necessary.”
She continues, “And if mandating vaccine passport would help us in regulating and the rollouts of vaccine and mitigate the situation of the pandemic today, then I agree on mandating the necessary passport of vaccination.”
While Bea didn’t make it further into the Final 3, the Filipina beauty queen has definitely won the hearts of many—including her fellow candidates in Miss Universe Philippines! Case in point: In an Instagram live, Ms. Universe Philippines Tourism Katrina Dimaranan and trending star Ayn Bernos showed their all-out support to Bea. They even vowed to get a tattoo, together with the other MUPH 2021 contestants, should Bea make it to the Top 5—which the Pinay beauty queen has successfully achieved!
While they didn't specify exactly what tattoo design they'll go for, we're assuming it will be somewhat similar, if not identical, to Bea's iconic arm band ink. The Cebuana got it on her 23rd birthday, and it symbolizes her "blossoming into womanhood."
Meanwhile, expressing her admiration for Bea’s performance, Ayn adds, “Honestly, I think she did a great job! Given number one, the question; number two, the sensitivity of the question. It’s a very, very polarizing question so for you to stand there and have the world watching, sorry, the universe, rather...uhm, that’s really difficult.”
The TikTok star, known for her Q&A prowess, also shared her own take: “Ako rin if I think about what I’d answer, it would be the same thought. I would agree,” she says, pointing out the difficulty of Bea’s question. “It’s harder to articulate an answer about the vaccines versus honestly, the other questions. She did a great job.”
Ayn ends her IG Live with excitement about getting a celebratory tattoo in honor of Bea’s achievement: “Excited na ‘ko sa tattoo ko!”
Aww. We’re all so proud of you, Bea!
