Whether you put on makeup to hide a few blemishes, to bring out your best features, or just to have fun with the latest makeup trends and products, it's undeniable that a strong red lip or a bold brow game can boost any girl's confidence to the nth level. While a gal can always count on makeup for a quick pick-me-up, overdoing a few makeup tricks can do the total opposite, and can actually make one look older than usual. Yikes!
To make sure that you're using your makeup loot the right way, we asked celebrity makeup artists Justine del Rosario and Anthea Bueno to list down the common makeup habits that are making you look older and you should ditch, STAT!
Putting on too much concealer. One common misconception when it comes to hiding dark circles, eye bags, and acne is that one should apply concealer on top concealer. But cakey concealer application won't cover your flaws well. In fact, the cakey application will only make you look extra tired, and even older than your actual age.
Learn the magic of color corrective concealer. Instead of applying too much nude concealer, learn how to use color corrective concealer. Don't be intimidated by the greens, purples, oranges, yellows, and pinks because these colorful shades will serve as your concealer's base so you can hide your flaws like a boss!
Prep your lips before applying matte lipstick. Aside from liquid lippies, matte lippies are all the rage these days, but while a matte finish is long-lasting and pretty to look at, it's formula is also harsher compared to your regular bullets. Make sure to prep your lips first before applying a matte lipstick! You can either swipe on a trusty lip balm before application, or exfoliate your lips first.
Don't line your eyes too much! When girls want an edgy eye game, they tend to line their eyes too much. But raccoon eyes won't just make you look like Little J, they can actually age you, too! Instead of lining your entire eye, skip the under eye liner for an edgy look that's still fresh and youthful.
