For many makeup enthusiasts, highlighter is LIFE, in more ways than one. It literally adds a pop of vibrancy to your face on days when you feel extra ~dead inside~ and gives the illusion of a lifted face by accentuating your high points. While we’re all for that lifted look, not everyone is into the shimmery effect most of the highlighters available on the market give, especially when you're only headed to a few classes in school and aren't keen on blinding your prof with very extra highlight. It may also take some time and moolah before you finally find one that works for you. No worries though, because this super easy makeup trick we picked up from YouTuber Claudia Sulewski might actually work in place of highlighters and it involves a makeup kit staple you probably already have: concealers.
In one of her GRWM videos, Claudia talks about dotting a lighter-shade concealer underneath her eyes and swiping it outwards towards the high points of the cheeks where you would normally put highlighter. “I feel like it’s bringing my cheekbone up,” Claudia adds. She actually has a point! The next time you need an instant brightening and lifting effect sans the use of highlighters, try investing in a concealer that's one or two shades lighter than your complexion.
