There are tons of ways out there to get rid of unwanted facial and body hair?—be it shaving, hair removal creams, or epilation! Waxing, on the other hand, could scare a lot of girls (and even men!). After all, waxing is notorious for being painful! With all those waxing challenges and hilarious reactions on YouTube. It's no wonder waxing gets such a reputation—especially when it comes to our more *ahem* tender parts.

Although La Boracay and LAbor Union season may be over, that doesn't necessarily mean that waxing season is done—especially Brazilian waxes. In a nutshell, Brazilian waxing is complete and thorough pubic hair removal from the front to the back. It's definitely a level up from the typical bikini wax and admittedly not for everyone. But whether you're into it or not, there are certain benefits to Brazilian waxing that trumps other methods of hair removal including smoother skin, longer-lasting effects, and finer hair growth.

Thinking of waxing it all off? Then you've come to the right place because we've got you covered with all the things you have to know if you’re thinking of trying a Brazilian wax anytime soon.

Do! Consult a professional.

D-I-Ys are all the rage, but don't take the risk of waxing your hair off on your own—especially if it's your first time. Instead, head straight to a trusted waxing salon! Sure, it might be more expensive than just shaving it all off on your own, but not only will they give you the proper aftercare tips you need to know, but you're guaranteed to be safer from possible infections that are common when waxing/shaving procedures are done wrong.

Don't! Shave before a Brazilian wax or any waxing session. According to the European Wax Center, your hair should be at least 1/4-inch long if you're thinking about getting a Brazilian wax. So surrender the razor for at least two weeks and let it grow! Longer hairs will stick to the wax strip better for a cleaner wax and a little more painless session, too!

Do! Pop a pill if you MUST! A lot of girls who wax like Tyra Banks take pain killers at least two hours before their session. That way, you build up your pain tolerance, giving you a more painless first time.

Don't! Forget to soothe your skin after a wax. After a Brazilian session, Strip: Ministry of Waxing always recommends to apply a cream to soothe your skin and to prevent ingrown hair as well They apply a cream right after the wax, but you can buy a bottle so you can moisturize the area for the next couple of days, too!

Do! Return to your waxing parlor to maintain your smooth skin. If you're thinking of maintaining your smooth skin, waxing centers recommend waxing every 3-4 weeks after your first session. Who knew you could go for a month, hair-free? Soon, you'll be able to say au revoir to your razors and hair removing creams!

Don't! Wax when you have skin issues. You're very much aware of what happens when you wax your vaj. Now, do you really want to wax over skin issues? Be it a sunburn, a rash, or anything else, it'll only irritate the area and make it worse. Be sure to nurse your skin back to health before attempting to wax it.

Do! List down the medicines you are taking prior to a waxing session. Some medicines like antibiotics or creams might not be compatible with waxing. Be sure to let your waxing professional know in advance so that you can get the most out of your waxing experience. Some medications may leave the skin more sensitive so waxing on certain meds might not be a good idea.

Don't! Party too hard.

Drinking alcohol or caffeine before a waxing session may not be the best idea. After all, these cause your pores to shrink and may result in more pain when you wax. Save the celebrating for after you leave the waxing bed!

Do! Relax. Nerves and anxiety can really contribute to the perception of pain when on the waxing bed. Treat yourself before a waxing session! Think of the things you love, watch your favorite drama series, do anything that could get you to your special place!

Don't! Get Too Sweaty for the next 24 hours. Getting physical would mean anything that could potentially make you sweat profusely down there. Yes, we're talking about intense workouts, going out in the sun, and much more. Sweating a lot after your Brazilian wax can cause friction and irritation, and we don't want that!

Do! Wear light and loose clothing, especially underwear. Like shaving, waxing leaves your skin a bit more sensitive than when you first started. You don't have to be a Victoria's Secret Angel on the waxing bed! Wear your most comfortable cotton panties every time you have a waxing session. Yes, granny panties count, too.

Don't! Expose your vagina to artificial products after a wax. After waxing, your skin becomes especially sensitive and prone to infections and other irritations. Lots of household grooming products contain artificial fragrances or colors such as spray tans, soaps, perfumes, lotions, and much more. Skip these for the first few days and stick to organics and other natural alternatives.
