When it comes to great skin, there are a lot of skin commandments that one needs to follow—from washing off your makeup before hitting the sheets to not popping your pimple no matter how big or distracting it is. But let's face it, no matter how many times your mom and beauty magazines remind you not to pop a zit, it can be pretty tempting to do so—especially if it's smacked in the middle of your nose. So for days when you "accidentally" pop one, dermatologist Dr. Rhoda Espino gives us a lowdown on what you need to do afterwards.

Q: What should I do after I pop a pimple?

Dr. Rhoda: Popping a zit, no matter how tempting it is, is a big no regardless of whether you're a beauty girl or not. But in case you accidentally do so, it's important to keep the area where the pimple was clean right away. Wash your face with your prescribed cleanser or a gentle face wash and apply you anti-acne creams prescribed by your dermatologist to avoid any skin irritation or worse—infection.
