While these days, girls are more conscious about their skin care—be it a simple cleanse-tone-moisturize regimen or a dramatic 10-step Korean skin care routine—anti-aging still isn't the main priority of the college girl. After all, isn't twenty too young for wrinkles anyway? Although wrinkles and fine lines don't always show right away, prevention is ultimately better than trying to solve the problem once it's already there. Plus, most signs of skin aging are so sneaky you won't even notice it until it's too late! To make sure that you're able to spot the signs early on, we asked dermatologist Dr. Raissa Francisco-Pasion to spill the deets on the early signs of skin aging.
Q:Â What are the signs that my skin is aging prematurely?
Dr. Raissa: Remember all those hours lying down under the sun at the beach without any sunscreen trying to perfect your tan? What about all those sleepless nights spent partying and drinking alcohol? Cigarette habit got a bit out of hand? Even if you don't remember your activities, your skin doesn't forget that easily. Early signs of aging start to show as early as your twenties and it reveals how much damage your skin has had through the years. These can be damage from the sun's UV rays, a stressful lifestyle, dehydration, or even eating unhealthy food.Â
There are quite a number of early signs of premature aging of the skin, but these are the main signs that you should watch for:
- Sun spots
- Fine lines
- Sagging
- Dullness
- Dry skin
- Uneven skin tone
