We've heard it said over and over again that it's important to put on sunscreen before heading out of the house. But let's face it, while we religiously follow our carefully prepared skin care routines, putting on sunscreen before heading out is a beauty must that we regularly forget, too. After all, we don't go to the beach every day! Plus, college girls spend most of their days inside the classroom anyway. What's the harm in not putting on sunscreen daily?

We hate to break it to you, Candy Girls, but whether you're heading out under the sun or just staying inside the library brushing up on your Calculus, a sunscreen is still a huge must! To prove our point, we asked dermatologist Dr. Rhoda Espino if applying sunscreen is needed even indoors.

Q: Do I have to put on sunscreen even when I'm indoors?

Dr. Rhoda: Whether you're heading outside or just staying in, applying sunscreen is a huge must—especially for girls who are hypersensitive to light, has melasma, or undergoing any laser treatments. It's no secret that rays of the sun can be harmful, but the skin can also be damaged by the visible light that comes from ordinary light bulbs in the classrooms. That's why I advise girls to put on sunblock at least twice a day—even if you're just staying in.
