We've always wondered about the secret to the French girls' effortless glow and since micellar water from Paris became available in the country, everyoneābeauty girl, or notāis raving about it! While it's no secret that micellar water can work wonders for one's skin because of the micelle molecules that can cleanse, hydrate, and moisturize it altogether, there have been some rumors that one can replace her whole skin care routine with only a bottle of micellar water. To find out whether it's truly safe to skip the cleanser and creams that have been a part of your skin care routine for the longest time, we asked makeup artist Nikki Tiu to weigh in.
Q: Is it safe to replace my whole skin care routine with micellar water?
Nikki: Definitely not! While micellar water is great, I still like the double, or triple cleanse method more. For me, micellar water is best for removing makeup on the whole face because it removes 60%-80% (depending on how good the micellar water is) of the makeup applied. Following up with a cleansing oil to remove any waterproof makeup used is highly recommended, too! Lastly, a good facial cleanser to wash off the makeup remover, traces of makeup left, and residue is the best way to cap off the night.
