Modern acne is one of the most common beauty problem that girls face, but some girls face a more serious beauty problem like warts, too! A wart growing on your face can be pretty scary, and a confidence downer, too. But keep calm and carry on, because we asked Dr. Raissa on what you should do if you feel a wart growing and how you can face this beauty problem head on!
Q: Eek! I have a wart growing. What do I do?
Dr. Raissa: Warts are benign skin growths that are caused by strains of the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV). They are contagious, and can multiply and spread to other parts of the body, or even other people, too. There are a lot of different kinds of warts, but two common kinds we often see are flat warts and common warts. Flat warts are small and skin-colored. They can occur anywhere on the body, but are more often seen on the face and neck. Common warts are bigger, have a rough and raised appearance and grow mostly on the fingers, hands, and feet.
If you feel that you have a wart growing, go and see a dermatologist ASAP so you can get a correct diagnosis, and determine the best way to treat it. Common methods of treating warts are through electrosurgery and curettage, cryotherapy, laser treatments, and topical solutions like salicylic acid.
