Whether you have a chic short cut or sleek long tresses, no one is truly safe from getting split ends. While there are a ton of split end repair products up for grabs in the grocery, drugstore, and department store, the effectivity of these products are still up for questioning. To make sure that you have nothing short of smooth and healthy hair from hereon now, we asked celebrity hairstylist Mark Rosales to give us the lowdown on the effectivity of these products and what you can do to get rid of split ends once and for all.
Q: Do split end repair products really work?
Mark: The good news is yes, split end repair products do actually work to smoothen out split ends and cover the damaged areas. But get this, Candy Girls, it's only a temporary fix. Some split end repair products use ingredients called polymers, which help "glue" split ends back together. But at the end of the day, the only permanent way to get rid of split ends is to chop it off. Split ends is a clear indication that the hair is not healthy and once it's damaged, it can't really repair itself, so a trip to the salon is your best bet.
