There has been a lot of rampant "makeup shaming" going on lately. Sometimes we tend to judge people based on their dolled up appearances. There have been times too that we have been on the receiving end of such criticism. Sure, it's great to embrace your natural beauty. But hey, it's equally great to rock the smoky eye and red lippie like it’s nobody’s business. It’s no girl crime, trust us! If you need more convincing, we list down 7 reasons why it's really no biggie to love your trusty kikay kit.

1 Makeup is an extension of your #ootd.

Think of it as something complementary to help spice up your outfit. See, it has all the workings of an accessory too. It can take oomph and flair to a whole new level, so don’t be afraid to add in a pop of color to that pretty face.

2  It's a great way to express yourself.

Wearing makeup gives you yet another awesome avenue to convey your personality and creativity across. Just imagine all the endless versions of yourself that you can possibly find with all the different looks you can achieve. It's alright to channel your inner style chameleon every once in a while (and not just with the clothes you wear). The thought of experimenting with shades and changing up your look from time to time can bring such thrills, too.

It can highlight your best features.

When applied correctly, it puts the spotlight on those fine features of yours even more. For instance, you could bring attention to those lovely eyes by playing on eyeliner and dabbing on some eye shadow. If you love your cheekbones, you'll want to make sure to bring them out with some blush and bronzer.

It's another version of your well-deserved me time.

Most times, we get way too preoccupied with our busy daily routines. The whole process of putting makeup on sure requires a lot of time and effort. But if those extra minutes mean allotting a chunk of your day to focus on yourself, then by all means, why not? It shouldn’t even be considered a guilty pleasure. Consider this ritual as your next well-deserved addition to your dwindling me time list.

5 It gives you an extra boost in the confidence department.

A swipe of your red lippie or bold brows can do the trick of feeling like every bit of the empowered femme fatale. There's nothing wrong with feeling extra fine, fresh, fierce, and fabulous!

It actually makes you more aware of your skin.

Don't believe us? Well, think about it. The hunt for the perfect makeup products is yet another ritual in itself. There is no universal brand that could bode well for every skin type; there are just so many factors to consider. Such factors would include not only how it glides well on your skin or the product's staying power, but would also beg you to ask questions like: Will this irritate my skin? or Is this the right product for my skin type (i.e. dry, oily, combination)? It presents the daunting challenge of taking extra caution of the products you allow your skin to take in. It’s true when they say that with great power comes great responsibility. And it's totally possible to wear makeup and still maintain great skin. We say, challenge accepted!

Getting glammed up, whether minimally or all out, does not mean that you don't appreciate the gorgeous genes you were born with. Wearing makeup is as much a personal choice as not wearing makeup on. Always remember, no matter how society perceives it, the definition of one's true self is not about how much or how little we put on our faces.

So the next time you feel like reaching out for your trusty kikay kit, don't ever feel at fault. Every girl has every right to rock every look in the book! What's your favorite look to put on? Leave a comment and let's talk makeup!
