Ever notice how girls in shampoo commercials all have silky, smooth, long hair that seem too good to actually be real? Well, you're right, because hair like that is not natural—a lot of lighting tricks and hairstyling tools have a hand in making it possible. In fact, most people have hair that's far from perfect and it's more than okay! Living in a tropical country makes it extra difficult to have hair that's commercial-ready daily because of the humidity, which causes hair to get unruly and frizzy. So if you having been living with buhaghag hair all your life, you have to know that you are definitely not alone! We totally feel you and your daily hair struggles, which is why we thought of listing down all the things that you go through and can relate to, so you can hopefully get a good laugh and possibly learn to embrace your natural hair.

  1. Everyone suggests that you get your hair relaxed/rebonded/straightened.

Like that's the solution to everything. P.S. It's not.

  2. Once you do go through with it, you immediately regret it and hate your now too-flat and too-straight hair.

  3. Finding the perfect cut that will flatter your hair is almost as impossible as getting the enchanted ring to Mordor. I-M-P-O-S-S-I-B-L-E.

  4. Getting your hair to cooperate and looking polished is a daily struggle.

Seriously, the struggle is SO real.

  5. Formal and important events require serious hair planning.

This means having to figure out if you have enough time to go to a salon for a blow-out or if you'll have to wing it (which usually means having to braid it or slathering a few serums on).

  6. "Mahangin ba sa labas?"

Nope. It's not. My hair just woke up like this.

  7. Speaking of serums, you've tried a wide selection of hair products to help tame your buhaghag hair before finding THE ONE.

  8. You've also tried quite a number of hair treatments, shampoos, and conditioners with the promise of less frizzy locks.

  9. And finding the right kind of shampoo is tough because anti-frizz is NOT the same as straightening.

  10. On days that your hair gets ultra buhaghag and out of hand, you result to a messy bun or side braid instead a.k.a. lifesavers!

  11. Choosing to dye your hair is another struggle because it can get your hair even more I than usual. *sigh*

  12. A good hair day is equivalent to finding the shoes you’ve been eyeing for months on 70% off and in your size, which is pretty much the best thing ever!

Regardless of the many difficulties and struggles you go through because of your hair, we still believe that embracing it and loving it is the first step to making every day a good hair day! Because you never know, you might just find what works best with your locks, letting you look your best every single time!
