Thanks to the many colonizers that have conquered our shores, we've all been blessed with a mix of different races and nationalities. The Chinese were a big portion of that, leaving behind a big and vibrant community. Because of this, a big portion of Filipinos have been mixed with the Chinese gene, which would manifest in the small, chinky eyes many of us have today. If you have this particular feature, then you can definitely be considered a chinita beauty. And just like other beauty features uniquely Filipina (just like the morena girls), chinita girls also go through a specific set of trials and struggles because of their smaller eye shape. Since we would love to celebrate all the gorgeous chinita girls out there, we put together a list of all the things only you can relate to in hopes of uniting everyone, having a few laughs, and even embracing the eyes you were born with.
1 People always ask me if I'm okay because I look like I cried, or that I just woke up.
Guuuurl I was born this way, deal with it.
2 My eyeliner almost always smudges and results in panda eyes.
Having monolids is totally a legit struggle. Believe me.
3 I barely have any lashes so I always have to glue on falsies to open up my eyes.
Yep, mascara just ain't enough.
4 Everyone always assumes I can translate Chinese signs or convos just by looking at me.
Um, not really, okay?
5 And please don't just assume I'm some math genius.
I mean, I totally could be, but that's just borderline stereotyping.
6 All my aunties tell me that eye-fold surgery will change my life.
I'm perfectly cool with my eyes, auntie. Thanks anyway!
7 But I'll have to admit, I did kinda think about getting my eyes done for my debut gift.
But naaaah. Just got a little jealz of all my friends' eye folds.
8 Because really, I'm totally fine with using eyelid glue when I feel like it.
Downside, lazy eye happens the moment the glue wears off. Oh well.
9 I have to avoid laughing too hard, especially when driving.
Let's just say my eyes get waaaay too small and that isn't safe.
10 All in all, I love my chinita eyes and it feels extra good when people appreciate my cute eyes, too!
