Welcome to another edition of Zayn Malik's Thoughts on One Direction, you guys!

LOLJK, we're just really confused at the moment because in Zen's newest cover interview with Complex magazine, he talks about his ex-bandmates. Again.

This isn't the first time he has talked about his time in One Direction and why he chose to leave. In case you've already forgotten, he's already spoken about the topic during his cover interview with Billboard and his first on-cam interview about it with Zane Lowe. So what's new, Zen?

In Complex, the 23-year-old was asked about his struggle to be ~*real*~ when he was still with the band and the restrictions he had to face while he's at it.

"That was something that was always underlying, and ended up as the main factor of me leaving in the end," he answered when asked about how much he struggled with authenticity during his days with 1D. "It was about denying the authenticity of who I was, and what I enjoyed about music, and why I got into it. That was always there. It was one of the things that wasn't going to go away, so I had to go away." OUCH.

But he also clarified that he's not ungrateful for doing music with the whole crew. "No one can ever say I was ungrateful, even though it sort of comes across that way when I mention that I was frustrated with the band. That's not the case at all," Zayn said. "That was just an experience that had to be dealt with at the time. With the music that I'm doing now, I get to express myself, and that creative tension is gone."

Another interesting thing Zen revealed during the interview was the restrictions he had to deal with when he was still with 1D. What's one example, you may ask? "Mainly my beard, honestly. I wasn't allowed to keep it. Eventually, when I got older, I rebelled against it, and decided to keep it anyway," he answered. "That was just because I looked older than the rest of them. That's one of the things that is now quite cool. I get to keep my beard. I also wanted to dye my hair when I was in the band, but I wasn't allowed to." Now we know why he keeps on changing his hairstyle and hair color.

Aside from these things, Zayn also got to talk about his view of success, his relationship with supermodel Gigi Hadid ("I try to keep the two very separate. I try to, as much as I can. But there's only so much you can do."), the album that made an impact on him (Tupac's All Eyez On Me), and his feelings on when his album Mind of Mine drops on March 25 and how different he'll feel about it from when his songs and albums with 1D came out.

"I felt different when the single dropped. There's so many extra emotions tied into it because it's a personal song. None of the songs that I wrote in One Direction were personal to me," he said. "Whenever we'd get an award or this or that, it was never something that I was emotionally attached to. Whereas with this, I am. I know what's going to happen. I'm going to be crazy ecstatic when that album drops. I'm going to be buzzing and I'm going to go out. I'll probably party with my friends and enjoy it."

Now we can't wait to hear the whole album. Congratulations in advance, Zen!
