Xyriel Manabat is one of those former child stars that will always have a place in our hearts. Remember her *unforgettable* roles in May Bukas Pa as Bea Aragon and in Agua Bendita where she played both the young Agua and Bendita?
Now 18 years old, the former young actress has done a lot of growing up since then. ICYDK, she has spent a few years away from the spotlight to focus on her personal life—she even graduated from junior high school! According to her, she was *undecided* about whether she wanted to commit herself to her job fully or if she preferred to enjoy being a full-time student.
But now that she's making her showbiz comeback, fans and netizens have noticed a more mature look in her—a far cry from the little girl she used to play in her roles back then. In a recent interview, she was asked if she was preparing for any role due to this big change, and she said this was merely her "Version 2.0."
Xyriel was also asked whether or not she is ready to take on sexy roles due to her more mature image now.
"Ah no po," she quickly responded. According to her, her new image doesn't equate to being ready to accept any mature roles.
She further explained that her "new look" doesn't mean she's liberated. "Hindi naman po siya liberated, more on hindi lang takot or conservative as what with usual tradition po sa Filipino culture, pero hindi naman po sobrang liberated na wild talaga," she clarified.
She was also prodded about whether or not she has received offers for sexy roles due to being of legal age already.
"Mayroon po," she confirmed.
However, she was quick to note that there are still a lot of factors she considers before even accepting a role. "Siyempre po, kailangan pa rin i-consider sa Star Magic and for me, if kaya ko naman bigyan ng justice ang role, wala naman pong mali, if part siya ng role and hindi 'yung pinilit lang just to be sexual and if it’s part of the role or the star, sure. Pero kung dahil pa-sexy or sexual lang, parang hindi po."
Xyriel is currently to star in the teleserye Dirty Linen, which will be led by fellow Gen Z stars Francine Diaz and Seth Fedelin.
