When Ed Sheeran's new songs hit the World Wide Web last week, we had such a wonderful way to end the week. But here's a revelation: in an interview with BBC Radio 1, the Brit singer and songwriter revealed that "Shape of You" was originally written for Rihanna. Ohhh.
Imagine if @edsheeran had given Shape Of You to @rihanna ???????? #R1Sheeran pic.twitter.com/dZdCmN3ROl

"I started thinking, 'This would really work for Rihanna,'" he said. "And then I started singing lyrics like 'putting Van the Man on the jukebox' and I was like, 'Well, she's not really going to sing that, is she?' And then we sort of decided halfway through that we were just going to make it for me." Ahh, we're glad Eddie kept the song for himself.
