Miss Universe Philippines 2021 finalist Victoria Velasquez Vincent made a shocking revelation on her social media last October 11.
"Shortly after the MUPH coronation night, I was offered to be Miss Universe New Zealand 2021," she wrote on Instagram.
Not only that, Victoria also revealed that she has officially declined the offer. According to the 26-year-old, she thoroughly discussed the matter with her family, friends, and team before arriving to the decision.
She said, "So many people will say I'm crazy for turning down this opportunity, but I had to choose what I know in my heart was the right thing to do.
"My heart is, and always will be here to serve the Philippines. Some may say I'm not Filipina enough, and that’s ok. I know who I am. I know what I stand for. I am a Filipina."
To drive her point home, the Filipino-irish beauty queen coupled the news with a photo of herself wearing a terno by local designer Jaggy Glarino.
In the same post, the beauty queen thanked the Miss Universe New Zealand organization for presenting her with the opportunity.
"Thank you to the MUNZ org for your kindness. I am endlessly grateful that you had faith in me and offered me the opportunity of a lifetime," she continued.
"Thank you to the MUPH org for offering your support regardless of what I decided to do. I am so excited to see what the future holds for us, Philippines."
Victoria was born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand. She placed third in the Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant, bearing the title of MUP 2021 Charity. She recently relocated to the Philippines to fulfill her advocacy for architecture and heritage conservation in the country.
