The Department of Education (DepEd) announced that President Rodrigo Duterte has officially approved the suspension of classes in all levels in Metro Manila for both public and private schools from March 10, Tuesday, to March 14, Saturday.
DepEd also urges students and parents to cooperate with the government’s pre-emptive measures by staying at home and avoiding crowded places during the class suspensions. In light of this, University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) President Emmanuel T. Fernandez and UAAP Executive Director Rebo Saguisag also announced the suspension of all UAAP events until March 14.
On March 9, the president also declared a state of public health emergency in the Philippines due to the rising COVID-19 cases in the country, as per Inquirer. As of writing, there are 24 confirmed cases locally.
