If you’ve been seeing social media posts that are savage AF, it’s probably because trash talk culture suddenly took over the internet in the past week. A Facebook group called Big 4 Trashtalkan dedicated to the so-called big four universities—Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University, University of Santo Tomas, and University of the Philippines—even became the talk of Twitter this week. Some find the posts a little too savage and uncalled-for, others believe some posts are just made in jest.
One Twitter user, however, found what’s probably the most wholesome kind of trash talk ever. The post, like any other believable trash talk post, included various cuss words for effect, but took quite a turn when it went on to thank UP for their noble initiative to make afforadable COVID-19 test kits.
Commenters also took on the trash talk format to praise other universities’ efforts in the fight against COVID-19. One comment was about how ADMU produced a public official like Pasig City mayor Vico Sotto, one was about how DLSU offered shelter for the homeless during the community quarantine, and another was about how UST had a league of frontliners risking their lives to save others’. Truly, it was the kind of trash talk content we’re all here to see.
Of course, before anyone takes offense at all the expletives used in the posts, the OP made it clear that it's all part of the trash talk format. Here's a disclaimer:
At the end of the day, we can all agree that we're thankful for every kind of help these universities, as well as other organizations and individuals, are doing in the country's collective fight against a bigger enemy.
