It is no secret that we've been sooo obsessed with anything Korean these past few months. From dramas to beauty, name it, we've surely written about it on the website. Hee hee.
So when we saw this amazing trailer for upcoming South Korean movie Okja on our feed, we just had to tell you all about it, Candy Girls. It's one of our must-watch movies this year!
Starring Ahn Seo Hyun (The Divine Move) and Tilda Swinton (Doctor Strange), Okja tells the tale of young Mija, who lives in the mountains of South Korea, and her journey to saving her best friend, a massive animal named Okja, from a corporation that wants to use him to make profit.
In order to save her best friend, Mija meets animal activists—played by Lily Collins (Love, Rosie), Paul Dano (Ruby Sparks), and Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead)—and a lot of people who want to control Okja's fate, and makes her way to New York to bring Okja back to their beloved home.
Raise your hand if you're as excited as we are!
Not only is this movie tackling our connection with the environment, but it also touches on a battle that's been going on around us for years: the fight between environmentalists and activists, corporate greed, and scientific ethics.
Okja is directed by Snowpiercer and The Host director Bong Joon Ho and is set for release on June 28 via Netflix.
