K-pop is steadily growing in popularity that it's now even being taught in college! What's more is that universities in South Korea have also started training students in the basics of being a K-pop star. One university even debuted their own K-pop group just recently, and its members are composed entirely of college students.
Azer, a new girl group from Howon University’s K-Pop Department, released their very first song “Elegante” on streaming platforms earlier this month. Howon University said that this track allows each member of the group to shine, both in vocals and choreography. According to the song's description, the title of the song finds its roots in Spanish and also French, so it's something even European fans of K-pop can resonate with. According to the university's website, students who graduate from the K-pop Department can pursue careers including (but are not limited to!) vocal trainers, songwriters, composers, K-Pop idols, and idol managers. Notably, numerous famous celebrities also came from this Korean university, like members of GOT7, VIXX, 2PM, and Wanna One.
Azer is composed of seven talented freshmen from the private university: Yookyung, Minseo, Mijung, Soyeon, Juyeon, Jaein, and Yoojin. There's no news yet of what Azer's next move will be after their debut song, but new fans can follow the group on their social media accounts for further updates.
