Jennifer E. Smith, bestselling author of the YA novel The Statistical Probability of Love At First Sight, made a very important announcement over Twitter recently.
I'm thrilled to finally be able to share some big movie news for Statistical Probability: http://t.co/AZgqZclJEb— Jennifer E. Smith (@JenESmith) October 29, 2014
It's happening, the film adaptation for The Statistical Probability is pushing through and Academy Award-nominee Hailee Steinfeld is taking on the role of Hadley! No name came up yet on who's playing Oliver (Hadley's love interest), but who do you want to cast for the role, Candy Girls?
The Statistical Probability will be under the direction of Dustin Lance Black, known for the 2008 film, Milk, which won the Best Original Screenplay at the Academy Awards. We also got to talk to Jen a bit about the movie when she was in town recently and she spilled that she's working with the producers to make the movie a wonderful one, just like her book. "The producers, they've been wonderful about running everything past me. I give input on the script and various drafts of it. I've been shocked about how collaborative they've been, because I’ve heard stories of [authors] who don't know anything that's happening in a movie," she said. "This is not a big studio thing. This is an independent producer. It's a passion project for everybody and they've been amazing about letting me be in it at all. I'm really grateful for that."
The YA novel follows Hadley's adventures and misadventures in 24 hours wherein she misses her flight to London for her dad's wedding and meets Oliver in the airport—the 4 minutes that most probably changed her life.
Have you read the novel? What do you think of Hailee as Hadley? Let us know in the comments or tweet us @candymagdotcom. We always love hearing from you. :)
