Scroll down and get to know the 20-year-old British actor a whole lot better.
- He started out dancing hip-hop and headlined in Billy Elliot the Musical.
His dance background has helped him prepare for his role in Spider-Man. He's done all sorts of flips and tricks in the musical, which you'll see a lot of in the movie, too!
- His big screen debut was in The Impossible with Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts.
Tom played the role of Lucas, the eldest son in the film inspired by a true story about the 2004 tsunami in Thailand. It was where he made his transition from performing in front of a live audience to cameras. "There was that technical change, but the similarities are that on set and onstage you create a family, and a very strong trust with everyone," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
- He went to the same school as Adele, Amy Winehouse, and Jessie J.
In an interview with Teen Vogue, he shared that his main focus was school while he waited for new projects to come. He says, "I'm studying theater and media. I don't really know why I took media because I'm so useless with technology, though it's fun. But, I do love theater and am having a great time learning about all the practitioners and getting to perform with my friends."
- He starred in a film with Saoirse Ronan.
In How I Live Now, Tom plays Isaac, distant cousin to Saoirse's character. He tells Collider how he's forged a strong friendship with his co-stars in the movie and what it was like to work with director Kevin MacDonald.

In the UK version of Studio Ghibli's The Secret World of Arrietty, young Tom did voice work for Sh?. Saoirse dubbed for the role of Arrietty.
- He found out that he got the part in Spider-Man: Homecoming online.
In true Gen Z fashion, Tom found out that he got the part through an Instagram post. After waiting for the confirmation months after 8 auditions and 5 self-tapes (filming yourself and sending it to a casting director), he was low-key scrolling through his feed when he saw a post that said find out who the new Spider-Man is—and lo and behold, it was him! He, of course, totally freaked out after.
- He tried to ask his In the Heart of the Sea co-star and (would-be fellow Avenger) Chris Hemsworth for help when he was auditioning to be Spider-Man.
Because he wanted the role so bad, he thought he'd ask Chris to put in a good word for him. But the actor who plays Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe teased him that he'd only say the worst things about him. LOL! But it turns out, he did put in a good word for him and we only hope they get to share some screen time in the future Avengers movies!
- He wants to win an Oscar and be a director someday.
In an interview by his Spider-Man: Homecoming co-star Zendaya for Interview, he shared that his 20-year goal is to become a director because he loves working with actors. His 15-year goal is to win an Oscar. And that's why he wants to be able to stretch himself as an actor like Jake Gyllenhaal, Leonardo di Caprio, and Meryl Streep. He doesn't want to limit himself to just one character.
- He totally slayed his performance of Rihanna's "Umbrella" on Lip Sync Battle.
Even Zendaya was floored. LOL!
